Some people have word blindness, dyslexia. However, there is a condition that is similar, social blindness – not shyness; the inability to see events in a social context. This condition has other symptoms such as being obsessive. This condition is called Asperger Syndrome or high functioning autism.

Tim was a loner. At school he stood out, he did not need friends. He was picked on by bullies. Befriended by a gay counter tenor music teacher and taken to trips to parks on the outskirts of town. Strangely the teacher took every opportunity to touch him even in class. Tim thought nothing of it but he did not take music GCSE much to the teacher’s disappointment.

He left school with no friends and spent three years at University with no friends. Work was no different. He drifted from one job to another. He lived with his girlfriend who later became his wife. All was not as it seemed – he could not connect with people until one day something changed.
