To coincide with Sex and the City 2 being released at the end of this month we are running a new competition entitled ‘Celebrating women’.
To enter please submit any piece you like under the category ‘Celebrating women’, it can be an image, article, poem or video, or any other format you choose.
To kick things off, I’ve put together this video parodying the new John Lewis ad using photographs of women around me being themselves and enjoying life their way.
To put your own version together it is really quite straightforward:
Sign up at www.onetruemedia.com where you can easily upload images and music and create the video.
You can download the MP3 of the ad by going to this URL: www.listentoyoutube.com, then entering this URL when prompted: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMtyOCoqHTk
When you have finished creating your video at www.onetruemedia.com click to ‘share’ it on YouTube.
If you’re happy with the video on YouTube click ‘embed‘ at the bottom right of your video then copy and paste the embed code that appears in the box into the body of your article submission.
You can use whatever software you like to create your video but we can only accept video entries that are served from YouTube. If you are having problems with the embed code then put the URL of your YouTube video in the body of the article you submit and we’ll do the rest.
Entries will be accepted from today, Tuesday the 18th May.
All you need to do is:
If you’ve already registered with us sign in at the top right of this page/If you’re new to us sign up by clicking this link.
Then create and submit your article within your profile section.
For photography submissions please enter when prompted the URL of where your photograph is held online e.g. http://www.flickr.com/whatever.
For video submissions please enter the embed code into the body of your article as described above.
The closing date for entries is Wednesday the 30th June.
The winner will be selected from all entries on Friday the 16th July.
The winner will win £50.
The winning submission will be the submission that generates the most unique views as measured by Google Analytics. You can increase unique views to your article by posting links to it on blogs, twitter and facebook.
All submissions will be immediately displayed within your personal blog area e.g. www.DeathToGlamour.com/blog/username. We aim to publish all valid entries under ‘latest’ within 8 hours of receipt; chosen entries will be displayed on our home page.
This competition is open to all UK residents who are 18 or over.
There is no limit on the number of entries per person.
Entries must be original and entrants must own the full copyright of their submission/s.
We reserve the right to edit submissions as required.
The winner will be notified by Monday the 19th July using the email address they entered when they signed up on this website.
Thank you to everyone who entered. Congratulations to Afroben whose poem 'Sojourner's Truth' had the most unique views of all valid entries and therefore won. Some exciting D2G news will be coming soon but in the meantime please keep submitting your writing - we welcome articles on any subject; from Death to Glamour, whatever is on your mind.
