A tiny ray of sunshine amidst the doom and gloom

Let’s face it, there’s not much to smile about at the moment: It’s the coldest winter for years, everyone’s worried about losing their job and there’s about to be two Friday the 13ths in a row.

An unlikely mini ray of sunshine on my recent tube journeys, to and from work, has been this poster campaign for South West trains. And no, I don’t work with or for them.

I just think this very simple campaign has an amusing comedy edge to it, especially given the mood of the country at the moment. It kind of makes me thing – relax, life’s too short to lose your sense of humour, no matter how bad the outlook. I haven’t gone as far as booking a trip to Weymouth for Valentines this Saturday, but I’m keeping it in mind for next year.

(I’ve spotted a Bournemouth version too, but this one’s my favourite.)

From my experience of English seaside holidays, the poster should read,

"Kiss your partner where the sun doesn't shine..........

    Weymouth."
